By necessity and desire, many artists work in a wide variety of venues and modalities, both resisting the imperative to locate their art practice in only one place and diversifying to make ends meet. When one places one’s work in a variety of contexts, the resulting transmission of artistic focus through various mediums and meeting grounds can be a rich space for innovation. Ways of seeing may undergo change depending on proximity and context. Although the artist who strives for cross-genre fluency my be difficult to categorize and sell, the culture seems more and more open to simultaneity and multiplicity. What are the benefits and problematics of flexibility, changeability and permeability, and how do artists meet its challenges?
Pricing: $5-10 [NOTAFLOF]
