These classes will be heavily inspired by the Axis Syllabus. We will explore fine tuning the movements of our bodies to facilitate more easeful flow in contact dance and healthy sustainable pathways for dynamic movement.
I am a person who loves to move my body and have studied dance in many forms: Modern, Capoeira, Salsa, African and Contact. My contact practice has been heavily informed by studying with some of the amazing teachers around the Bay Area: Nuria Bowart, Bianca Cabrera, Scott Wells, Miriam Wolodarski, Phoenicia Pettyjohn, Sebastian Grubb and Sarah Day among others. My approach to movement has been especially inspired by the Axis Syllabus. I addition to dancing, I also spend my time teaching and performing guitar and harmonica and leading backpacking trips.
An art space for contact and improvisation, experimentation and inquiry. Tuesday nights jams are a focused forum for movers and shakers: experimentation is welcome, be it in physical, sociological, performative, or compositional realms. Each improvisor is responsible for their own choices. Each jam is cooked up by those who show up.
