Presented as part of CounterPULSE’s Winter Special
“THE CRANE AND THE CROCODILE: sad songs and a heavy jacket” is part research into the phenomena of depression and anti-depressants in contemporary society, part rapprochement with the animal self. Through deep somatic investigation, absurdist comedy, and athletic dance, two women explore bravery and brutality in nature and society.

Working Title: Departure and Arrival
Jorge Rodolfo De Hoyos in collaboration with Kevin O’Connor (Canada), Emily Leap and Raoul Freitas Vale Germano (Holland) present a new dance-study-in-progress exploring the themes of Departure and Arrival. The world is ever-globalizing and a sense of home and positionality is more rapidly shifting, dissolving, and realigning itself. Excavating and distilling our personal histories, body states and emotional vibrations, we offer our embodiment as allegories for larger systems at the level of ideology and spirituality. Can we make distance happen in performance? What is the tone of loss and letting go? How do we accept?
