Slow Food Feast of Fools and Friends,
a benefit for CounterPULSE and Shaping San Francisco...

Sunday, October 19, 6:30 p.m. until late...

Autumn Feast

Planning is just beginning, so expect our usual spectacular combination of great food, drink, company, education, stimulation, enlightenment and satiation...

Here are some photos from the Feast held on April 22, 2007:

Thanks to Phil Maisel for these lovely shots. More here!

Click the donation button to specify how many people are coming, whether or not they're vegetarian or omnivore, and to give us your contact info, plus how much you're donating to cover the total number of people you are reserving for. We are asking $50-100 sliding scale per person. Call 626-2060 to see if we have any tickets left. (it is fine to bring additional wine of your own if you so desire...)

  1. San Francisco's own Anchor Steam beer (if you want wine feel free to byob)
  2. Corn Pizzettas with cilantro dazzle, cherry tomatoes, chipotle black beans, cotija cheese.
  3. Arugula salad with roasted delicata squash wheels with roasted spiced pumpkin seeds, pomegranate seeds with a pomegranate dressing.
  4. Fire-roasted Two-Dog Farms tomato soup with organic Marin Sun chicken with crispy tortilla strips and goat cheese.
  5. (meat) Organic Marin Sun Farms short ribs with a chili guajillo sauce or
  6. (vegetarian) Poblano chiles stuffed with aged cheese, raisins and pomegranates in an apple-walnut sauce
  7. Mission Pie’s organic, pear ginger pie with chestnut-infused organic whipped cream.
  8. Pacifica’s Drunk Goose Cellars Plum wine.

We are committed to engaging with local gardeners and farmers, food suppliers and vintners, to promote and extend a new relationship between urban life and food. Organic, locally-produced, heirloom species, traditional practices... all these contribute to the emerging culture of ethical, delicious, pleasurable food and social dining. CounterPULSE is taking its place at the table, bringing together our community with an extended network of sustainable and convivial food makers to produce amazing and memorable feasts.

Three previous Slow Food Feasts of Fools and Friends (in April 2006, October 2006 "Autumn Harvest,", and April 2007 "By the Sea...") featured guest speakers from the Slow Food San Francisco chapter, a permaculturist from Sebastopol, an organic urban chef, a San Francisco urban gardener, a post-carbon activist, a "Victory Gardens" artist, and a Fish & Game inspector and raconteur. Video clips of the food providers in their gardens and fields complement the meals. This Moving Foods Feast will have speakers, video clips, and again we'll have live music and surprising entertainers, plus a delightful crew of volunteer servers... they might be your friends already!

Previous Feasts have all sold out, so don't wait too long before purchasing your tickets. If you prefer, you can send a check made out to "CounterPULSE", 1310 Mission Street, San Francisco, CA 94103, specifying how many you are paying for, how many are vegetarian or omnivore, and your phone number so we can confirm your reservation. If you pay through the paypal button above or by check, AND DO NOT GET A CONFIRMATION PHONE CALL BY October 14, CALL US!

To volunteer write to cc at chriscarlsson dot com.

We need help with cleaning up behind our illustrious chefs at the industrial kitchen (apx. 5:00-6:30) and at the end of the night at CounterPULSE (apx. 10:30-12 midnight). We need waitpeople, wine pourers and water jockeys and jockettes, and we need schlepping help if you have a vehicle and time in the week prior to October 21...
