Community Engagement Fellow

Our Engagement Fellow works closely with our Communications Manager and Executive Director to execute all aspects of engagement and promotion. This position is a crash-course in how to promote a working art space and the productions within. CounterPulse believes in creative outreach strategies that involve the audience in the work that is produced in the space. The engagement fellow will utilize social networking sites, blogging and other online tools to get the word out about everything that is CounterPulse. They follow events from their curatorial inception to the actual performance, helping to shape how we communicate art and ideas. They will play a pivotal role in all planning processes and production meetings, developing online interactive tools to engage constituents, event publicity, contributing to the design of CounterPulse communications collateral, developing strategies to interact with artists and audiences, constituent relationship maintenance, and general office reception. This fellowship offers the opportunity to learn the ins and outs of social media, engage in the creative process, and practice professional outreach strategies.

Candidates should have a working knowledge of Google documents, Facebook, Twitter, excellent and professional phone and people skills, and enthusiasm for art and creative problem solving!

Communications Fellowship

This fellowship is an on-the-ground crash course in storytelling, outreach, and community engagement for arts nonprofits. Fellows leave this position with a working knowledge of industry practices for creating full-spectrum marketing strategies for creative non-profits. This fellow will support press campaigns, community partnership building, creative asset creation, photo and video databasing, and targeted storytelling through newsletters, blogs, social media, print material, and advertising. You should be a strong writer and have an eye for design. Ideal candidates have experience with the Adobe Creative Suite and basic HTML.

This position is ideal for candidates interested in supporting creative community and social justice causes as a storyteller though writing, community engagement, public relations, and design collateral creation.

Program Fellowship

This position is active and diverse, with responsibilities including patron/artist correspondence, database, quickbooks, and office systems management, grant fundraising, as well as professional experience building, implementing, and evaluating programs at CounterPulse. The admin fellow also has the opportunity to accrue skills in curatorial strategies and philosophies, and to gain a fundamental understanding of the general ebb and flow of a non-profit community arts space. They are also encouraged to attend Board of Directors Meetings and other CounterPulse activities.

Production Facilities Fellow

Our Production Fellow learns valuable skills in both theatrical and event production as well as building management through hands-on experience. As key staff members, they play a pivotal role in and out of the CounterPulse office, assisting the Technical Director with all aspects of nonprofit administration, program coordination, bookings and contracts, facility innerworkings, and live performance production.  CounterPulse is designing a new facility for 2015!   This is an exciting active, diverse, and unique opportunity for the Production & Theater Facility Fellow:  This fellow will have an integral role working with architect professionals and contractors within the construction phase of our new building, as well as corresponding with our diverse artists and gaining hands-on professional experience in the theater working on multiple productions. The Production & Theater Facilities Fellow also has the opportunity to accrue skills in building a new theater facility by assisting Technical Director with corresponding with architects, contractors and building project managers.  They are also encouraged to shadow lighting or sound designers when appropriate and attend Board of Directors Meetings and other CounterPulse activities.

Development Fellowship
