The week before I finished my internship with CounterPULSE in May, my collaborator and partner in crime Brittany Delany (also a past intern at CounterPULSE obviously) told me that on a whim she had booked the Temescal Art Center in Oakland for the first and second Thursday nights for the rest of the summer.  She looked at me a with bright eyes, and a little embarrassment for her impulsiveness.

Brittany and I had just been talking about how we wanted to show our dance collaboration at a house party.  We wanted to eat food, drink, and laugh with our friends  while listening to great music and then share what we have been working on in the living room.  Something that did justice to the rigor of our creative process, but also invited everyone intimately into that process.

When Brittany told me that we had a big beautiful living room i.e. Temescal Art Center for the rest of the summer to present work, have parties, eat and drink, share research, and make new connections with the community, I couldn’t have been happier.  We began to plan immediately.  Thanks to my internship at CounterPULSE I have a budding skill set in community outreach, front of house, budgeting, and curatorial strategy to take on this inspiring project.  Thank you so much to the staff at CounterPULSE for taking the time to be such incredible teachers.

Welcoming creative exchange between visual art, music, performance and discussion, GROUND SERIES  is a space to make friends, eat food, party, and engage with local emerging art.    You are invited!

If you are interested in getting involved please email groundseries@gmail.com We would love to hear what you are making, thinking, sharing.

The Most Love,
