For their first solo exhibition, interdisciplinary duo DROUGHT SPA (alex cruse and Kevin CK Lo) presents Return the Eye, a combination of installation, text, and video, with a remote viewing system that telematically conjoins viewers. These works consider visibility, the elastic ontology of virtual images and the weaponization of optical technologies.
Based in San Francisco gallery Cloaca Projects and formatted as an online experience, Return the Eye collects user data generated by visitors, which then enact audio-visual transformations in real time. Simultaneously, three user-controlled cameras situated in the gallery operate as a portal to surveil installed objects referencing machine intelligence, ecology, and state violence.
